TITLE:
Engineer, ProductDUTIES:
Support the evolution of product development and LCM processes through continuous exploration of user feedback in order to advance the value of product solutions.
Design product solutions which integrate objects, provide connectivity, and derive user insights.
Collaborate with design, marketing, and others to identify, leverage, and apply user insights to products, applications, and framework solutions.
Support and validate concept, product, and solution design through principle driven approaches.
Evaluate solutions using the Min Viable Product (MVP) approach.
Utilize rapid prototyping and experimentation which details and evaluates learning in order to validate and confirm concepts.
Propose and design product development solutions which consider multiple or parallel concepts and options to provide ideation efficiency.
Evaluate and propose materials selection for product development which considers current capabilities as well as new and emerging materials.
Consult with procurement, third party suppliers, and manufacturing on material capability, manufacturability, and costs.
Consult, design, and apply testing specifications for material use and applications.
Validate regulatory compliance with governing institutions such as BIFMA, sustainability, and ISO, to mitigate risk, liability, and environmental impact.
Participate in supplier reviews which consider capability, selection, and cost.
Leverage research to generate innovative user-centric design solutions and share knowledge with peers and functions.
Engage in reciprocal coaching to promote learning.
Participate in product development and launch processes with a focus on feedback in order to improve and enhance the value to the user as well as profitability and the brand.
Evaluate product designs of current products in order to reduce costs and enhance or extend offerings.
Evaluate interdependencies of product, frameworks, connectivity, and platforms to assure the life cycle of solutions and mitigate risk.
Review, propose, and implement robust LCM management plans which solve for space and application solutions.
Convert concepts into product solutions by interpreting product, tooling, cost data, economic principles, and profit/loss analysis.
Leverage systems, processes, and tools to provide technical product specifications which detail technical integrity, design intent, and validation activities.
Apply engineering principles, materials, mechanical science, properties, manufacturing, and tooling capability expertise to product solutions.
Leverage engineering documentation tools to provide specifications, protocols, and procedures.
Leverage visualization images and illustrations for presentation of concepts, solutions, and ideation.
Collaborate with design and marketing to craft, interpret, and inform through storytelling in order to demonstrate concept and insights.
Participate in cross-functional teams to expand the depth of solutions.
Leverage and use collaboration tools to improve efficiencies in the team.
Identify external trends, influencers, and environmental factors which impact products or solutions.
Leverage insights gained from environment to further existing solutions and products, propose new solutions and products, and mitigate potential failures of current offerings.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related.
Three (3) years of experience in job offered or related.
Experience must include:
Evaluating and proposing materials selection for product development that considers current capabilities for new or emerging materials; Consulting with Procurement, 3rd party suppliers and Manufacturing on material capability, manufacturability and costs; Designing, and applying testing specifications for material use and application; Validating regulatory compliance with governing institutions (BIFMA, Sustainability, ISO, etc.
) to mitigate risk, liability, and environmental impact.
